This boardgame is based on a world famous novel by F.Herbert, that you might’ve heard of because of a world famous movie by Denis Villeneuve. 

Dune is all about intrigue and influence, and also by planning things well in advance: you build your deck by acquiring cards that you then use on later turns to deliver a master stroke and thwart your opponent’s evil plans. 

The best thing about Dune is that the game is not decided until the very end, in the game pictured Mrs.Nerd Alert was dominating throughout, accumulating huge piles of spice and money, but alas, she was blindsided and undermined right at the finish line. Very very Dune-like.
